Lhe brainstorming workshop was organized on the sidelines of the 77th session of the UN General Assembly, which is being held from September 13 to 27 in New York. Taking advantage of the occasion, Morocco co-organized on Saturday a high-level event on the transformation of the education system and sustainable development.
Initiated in partnership with Côte d’Ivoire and the UNESCO Institutes of Lifelong Learning, this meeting, held within the framework of the high-level summit on the transformation of education (current 16-19), shone the spotlight on the solutions and means likely to transform education systems in favor of achieving inclusive sustainable development.
Speaking on this occasion, the Minister of National Education, Preschool and Sports, Chakib Benmoussa, stressed that public schools are at the heart of the new development model adopted in 2021, noting that this innovative model places the citizen at the center of all development choices.
In this context, he indicated that Morocco’s ambition by 2035 is to ensure that everyone can fully take charge of their future and realize their potential, and live with dignity in an open, diverse, just and equitable society. , noting that Morocco is a country that creates value and develops its potential in a sustainable, shared and responsible manner.
“Only a profound transformation of our education system can enable our country to achieve development objectives such as citizen development, social cohesion, economic growth and territorial inclusion.“, explained Benmoussa, noting that key objectives for promoting quality and providing equal opportunities in school include achieving compulsory schooling and improving the quality of learning.
He further indicated that public schools should ensure that all children acquire the knowledge and skills necessary to succeed in their academic and professional life and improve the development of children.
“Public schools should be a fulfilling place where children can learn and cherish the national and universal values of citizenship, self-confidence, tolerance and peace”, he added. This event was marked by the participation of the Mohammed VI Foundation for the protection of the environment, chaired by Princess Lalla Hasnaa.
