Following the worldwide success of OpenAI’s ChatGPT, many companies want to equip themselves with their own AI system. Meta, which holds WhatsApp, Facebook and Instagram, is naturally part of it. Mark Zuckerberg’s company has also invested in a supercomputer dedicated to artificial intelligence. Meta already offers an AI capable of understanding more than 4000 languages. And this time, the company is getting into AI-generated stickers.
The announcement was made at a company meeting, where Mark Zuckerberg has given his opinion on the Apple Vision Pro. Ahmad Al-Dahle, Meta’s vice president of AI, told employees that the company would leverage its image generation model to allow users to create stickers from text prompts.
The manager says:Thanks to the AI-generated stickers, our users have a endless number of expressive options personal, cultural representations and even the relevance of trends. Of course, stickers are just the tip of the iceberg..”
Indeed, Meta relies heavily on the use of AI for creating and modifying images. The vice-president of Meta thus specifies that the company “also working on AI models that will transform any image in any way“. AI might thus help to modify the aspect ratio of an image. It might also make it possible to turn a photo into a painting.
Meta first hinted at the use of generative AI when Mark Zuckerberg announced that the company now has a team dedicated to building AI-powered tools. The entrepreneur also told investors that Meta wanted to bring “from AI agents to billions of people“. The latter indeed intends to integrate generative AI functionalities within WhatsApp, Messenger, Facebook and Instagram.
