A “common” bathing habit that can “cause” a heart attack even in young adults • Al Marsad Newspaper

Al-Marsad newspaper: Some studies have shown that a number of habits can lead to the appearance of symptoms of a heart attack, and one of them may occur while taking a shower.

According to some experts, exposure to sudden surges of water may be dangerous for individuals with heart disease.

Harvard Health says that cold showers may have a negative effect on those with heart disease “because it may lead to a heart attack or an irregular heartbeat.”

The shock of cold water causes the blood vessels in the skin to constrict, which increases resistance to blood flow within the body.

As a result, the heart rate also rises, making it difficult for the heart to pump blood throughout the body.

The pressure inside the blood vessels is likely to rise as a result. By causing blood vessels to constrict, cold water can trigger heart attacks, even in relatively young and healthy people.

The American Heart Association cites research showing that “diving in cold water during hot weather can cause heart attacks even in young, healthy individuals.”

Professor Mike Tipton, who directs the University of Portsmouth’s Extreme Environments Laboratory, explained that the introduction of cold water during showers should be done with caution. Cold showers can offer health benefits when done correctly, including boosting the immune system and mental health.
