Seoul Morning Commute Hit by Crisp 12.3-Degree Chill
Thursday morning commutes across South Korea demand a bit more caution against the chill, as temperatures in Seoul dropped to 12.3 degrees Celsius, according to YTN.
Morning conditions started significantly cooler than the previous day across the interior regions. Lows dipped down to 7.8 degrees in Sejong and 9.5 degrees in Jeonju, bringing frost to inland areas and freezing water in the mountainous parts of Gangwon Province.
Daytime Highs Set to Rebound by 10 Degrees
Despite the brisk start, daytime temperatures will climb by roughly 10 degrees or more.
Seoul expects a high of 21 degrees, while Gangneung, Jeonju, Daegu, and Daejeon are all projected to reach 23 degrees. This sharp rise creates a wide daily temperature range of nearly 20 degrees in southern regions, prompting weather forecasters to advise commuters to wear easy-to-remove outer layers for proper body temperature regulation.
Scattered Afternoon Rain and Lightning Threat
Skies remain mostly clear through the morning hours, though cloud cover will gradually increase across the central-northern provinces.
By the afternoon and into the night, light rain under 5 millimeters is expected to hit parts of the Seoul metropolitan area and Gangwon Province. Forecasters note that these areas might experience localized thunder and lightning alongside the rainfall.
Nationwide Rain System Looms for Sunday
Relatively clear and classic autumn weather is expected to hold through Saturday. However, a shift arrives on Sunday when rain is forecast to spread nationwide, bringing an even sharper drop in temperatures once the system clears.
