New trouble about the art show of shame!

Documenta artist Hamja Ahsan agitates against Israel, the West and the Germans. Among other things, he describes Chancellor Olaf Scholz (63, SPD) as a “fascist pig”.

► The British artist and exhibitor at the Kunstschau in Kassel lets his hatred run free in a Facebook post. It says (translated): “Fuck Nato, fuck neo-imperialist Germany, fuck the EU. I’m glad not to be associated with that neoliberal, fascist swine Olaf. I don’t want him in my Documenta exhibition.”

► He also insults British Prime Minister Boris Johnson (58): “Two pigs. Boris and Olaf,” says another post.

Incredible words!

Volker Beck, President of the German-Israeli Society (DIG), on BILD: “It is part of the repertoire of left-wing and right-wing extremist agitators to describe everything and everything that is politically undesirable as fascism or National Socialism. In fact, this is always a relativization of fascism and National Socialism.”

Bizarre: although Ahsan obviously hates Germany and the West, he is happy to have his Documenta exhibition paid for with German tax money.

The art show in Kassel (which will take place until September 25th) is financed by state funds. The Federal Cultural Foundation alone pumped around 3.5 million euros into the three-month exhibition. The Documenta and its management have faced severe criticism after a number of obviously anti-Semitic works were shown there.

Ahsan agitates against critics

As the Hessian FDP MP Stefan Naas (48) on the hatred of the scandal artist Ahsan alerts him, he gets it himself.

He is a “racist, neoliberal apartheid regime lackey” and a “neoliberal pig”, Ahsan rages and incites his supporters to the FDP man!

Terror relativization

The artist also attracts attention with his trivialization of Palestinian terrorist groups and his solidarity with the anti-Semitic Israel boycott campaign BDS.

► He repeatedly writes of a “Zionist lobby” and refers to Israel as an “apartheid regime” – both popular conspiracy narratives by enemies of the Jewish state.

His agitation also runs through the works of Ahsan.

Volker Beck explains in BILD: “In my opinion, Hamja Ahsan’s works that play down terrorism are worse than the clearly punishable insult against the Federal Chancellor. He downplays the terrorism of the PFLP-GC and the al-Aqsa Martyrs Brigades*. Nowhere have I found a distancing from their terror. His humor is at the expense of the victims of terrorism.”

Documenta dispenses with distancing

BILD asked the Documenta, wanted to know: What consequences can the scandal artist expect? And how does the Documenta management feel about his hate tirades?

A spokeswoman only said: “The documenta stands for objective and respectful interaction with one another. However, it is not the task of the documenta to comment on statements by those involved outside of the exhibition.”

In plain language: Although Hamja Ahsan spreads the worst hate, the Documenta management doesn’t even want to distance itself from the scandalous statements.

“What else has to happen?”

The FDP member of the Bundestag Frank Müller-Rosentritt (40) calls for the documenta to be cut from tax revenue. He to BILD: “What else has to happen before the financing of Documenta 15 with tax money ends? The fact that a stage for hatred of Jews and hate speech against Israel was and still is provided is reason enough to stop funding. Now a Documenta artist is openly proclaiming his support for BDS. In the Bundestag we decided in 2019 that no federal funds may be used for BDS. Minister of State Roth, put an end to this disgusting madness!”

Minister of State for Culture Claudia Roth (67, Greens) has so far left a BILD request unanswered.

BDS is an international hate campaign that more or less openly calls for the abolition of Israel and glorifies terror against Israelis. A decision by the Bundestag in 2019 stipulates that they should not be funded with tax money. The current Minister of State for Culture, Roth, of all people, voted against this decision at the time.
