East Davidson High School cancels soccer season after video

East Davidson High School canceled the remainder of its varsity soccer season after a widely circulated social media video showed members of the team on a bus. In the clip, a person said to “make noise if you hate [racial slur],” and many people on the bus then made sounds, WBTV reported.

Investigation and Cancellation at East Davidson High School

The decision to terminate the athletic schedule arrived following a thorough review by school administrators. East Davidson High School confirmed on Wednesday, Oct. 28, that the cancellation of the season stemmed from a rigorous internal evaluation of the footage.

The viral recording captures individuals on a team bus responding to a prompt instructing passengers to make noise if they harbor hatred for a specific racial slur. Multiple individuals on the bus are heard vocalizing responses in the clip.

School leadership characterized the conduct as entirely inconsistent with institutional values. In an official statement, representatives noted that the behavior fails to reflect the standards upheld at East Davidson High School.
