This is the outcome of one of the criminal cases that have held public opinion in suspense for almost sixteen years. The Criminal Chamber of First Instance at the Casablanca Court of Appeal delivered the long-awaited verdict on Wednesday evening. Two of the culprits were sentenced to 20 years in prison, each, together with a heavy fine of 600,000 dirhams. This amount will be paid to the victim’s family (mother, brother and sister) as compensation.

The defendants were charged with a charged count. They were convicted of “premeditated murder, altering the state of the crime scene with intent to pervert the course of justice, contempt of public authorities through false statements and failure to report a crime “.

This verdict seems to comfort the mother of Thami who led a long fight for justice to be done for her son, murdered in mysterious circumstances. This case dates back to 2007 when the victim went out with her friends in the car. It was the last time Thami was seen by his mother. Since then, he has been missing, raising several doubts in his mother who decided to take legal action.

The investigation lasted for years. It was not until 2019 that Justice got their hands on two of Thami’s friends, suspected of being involved in the victim’s disappearance. After several expert reports, the prosecution concluded that the victim was indeed murdered.
