Jenaro Wilhelm is an Argentine who lives in Switzerland, and makes content on TikTok related to his life in the European country for the more than one hundred thousand people who follow him.

In one of the most recent videos, the influencer published a clip in which he reveals how long he must work in Switzerland to buy luxury items, such as a PlayStation 5 or an iPhone 15 Pro Max.

Jenaro explains in his TikTok that he charges 33 francs (CHF) per hour, so to buy the PlayStation 5, which costs 419 CHF, he only has to work a day and a half, and to buy an iPhone 15 Pro Max, 256 GB, which costs 1,299 CHF, must work 5 days. This is assuming you work eight hours a day.

For comparison, in Colombia a PS5 ranges between $3,000,000 and $3,500,000, and the minimum monthly salary is $1,160,000, so a person who earns the minimum wage will have to work approximately three months to be able to buy it, that is That is, at the time when Tiktoker would buy 40 PS5s, a Colombian would buy only one.

On the other hand, the 256 GB iPhone 15 Pro Max costs $6,898,960 in Colombia, which implies that a Colombian who earns the minimum wage must work approximately six months to be able to buy it. Making the comparison again, in the time that a Colombian would spend saving for this cell phone, Jenaro could buy it 24 times.

It should be noted that the tiktoker earns a little more than the minimum wage in his country, which is 25 CHF per hour, but, even so, someone who earns the minimum should only save their salary for a little more than two working days.

Additionally, Wilhelm indicates that he bought a second-hand Ford Fiesta for 4,000 CHF, and that he only had to save 15 days of his salary to raise the money, and closed by saying that if he wanted to buy a high-end car, which costs around 20,000 CHF, he had to work 75 days, that is, almost the same as a Colombian who earns the minimum must work to buy a PS5.

Many Internet users, however, reproached the Argentinean that these costs did not demonstrate how expensive life is in Switzerland, since those who had gone as tourists argued that all basic products have high costs.

However, Wilhelm explained that just as a coffee or a lunch has much higher costs than in other European countries, such as Spain, the salary is also much higher, so living in the country is not expensive, but going vacations yes.

This data is worrying and even outrageous for the national economic situation, taking into account that technology products are increasingly raising prices, and becoming more unattainable for the average Colombian.
