Moscow welcomes Riyadh’s efforts to resolve the conflict

Russian missile barrages on Ukrainian cities “in response to the attack”… and darkness in Zaporizhia

Russia expressed its appreciation for the active efforts of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, not only in settling regional issues, but also “in settling issues at the international level.” At the conclusion of his meeting with his Saudi counterpart, Prince Faisal bin Farhan in Moscow, Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov praised Riyadh’s readiness To help facilitate dialogue on the Ukrainian crisis, stressing that “Russia welcomes Riyadh’s role in resolving the conflict in Ukraine,” noting that “Saudi Arabia’s position on the Ukrainian crisis is not limited to the exchange of prisoners.”

The Saudi minister said, “We always strive to provide support in order to resolve this crisis, and we are ready to work with all parties to find a peaceful solution, and we have already put forward certain initiatives in the past, including with regard to the exchange of prisoners, with the personal supervision of this process by the Crown Prince.” Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman. Meanwhile, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky said that the missile attacks launched by Russia on Ukrainian cities had caused a “difficult night” for the population. Zelensky stated that Russia launched a total of 81 missiles, while Moscow announced that it had launched “intensive” bombing of Ukraine “in response” to a recent attack against its territory attributed to “saboteurs” from Kiev.

The missiles, which hit several cities, including Zaporizhia, caused darkness at the city’s nuclear plant, due to the power outage. The International Atomic Energy Agency expressed its concern about this development.
