Ahead of the current football season, a survey of the 18 coaches in the Jupiler Pro League by the weekly magazine HUMO revealed that the foreign-based Belgian players generating the most anticipation are Youri Tielemans, Mika Godts, and Nathan De Cat, all of whom share a developmental background at RSC Anderlecht.
Managers Identify Tielemans as Player to Watch
As reported by Voetbalkrant.com, six of the eighteen Jupiler Pro League managers identified Youri Tielemans as the Red Devil they were most eager to watch following his move to Manchester United. Meanwhile, Mika Godts’ transfer to Paris Saint-Germain and Nathan De Cat’s switch to Hoffenheim each garnered three coach votes in the pre-season survey.
Other prominent internationals such as Jérémy Doku, Romelu Lukaku, Maxim De Cuyper, and Nicolas Raskin each received a single vote from the domestic panel. The heavy backing for Tielemans, Godts, and De Cat immediately highlights a shared pedigree rooted in the youth ranks of Anderlecht.
Kindermans Evaluates Former Trainees at Elite Clubs
Jean Kindermans weighed in on the trajectory of these three products during an interview with HUMO.
Kindermans also addressed Godts’ career path, describing the winger’s recent trajectory as spectacular.
| Player | Previous Club | Current Club | HUMO Coach Votes |
|---|---|---|---|
| Youri Tielemans | Aston Villa | Manchester United | 6 |
| Mika Godts | Ajax | Paris Saint-Germain | 3 |
| Nathan De Cat | RSC Anderlecht | Hoffenheim | 3 |
Managing Squad Depth and Champions League Demands
Transitioning to the reigning Champions League holders presents an immense hurdle for Godts, given the established attacking options in Paris. Kindermans pointed directly to the competitive roadblock awaiting the young Belgian in Ligue 1.
As the domestic campaign unfolds across Europe’s top flights, the performances of Tielemans in Manchester, Godts in Paris, and De Cat in the Bundesliga will serve as a continuous measuring stick for the talent pipeline nurtured at Neerpede.
