As we previously reported, following years of spectacular purchases, Embracer finally ran out of money. Now it seems that we have a succession of studio closures, cancellations and layoffs due to this very reason. After shutting down developers like Campfire Cabal and Volition, talk of selling Gearbox and massive layoffs and more, it’s time for Crystal Dynamics to let some people go. At least ten people have been confirmed to be leaving the studio, best known for the first two games in the new Tomb Raider trilogy, Marvel’s Avengers, and The Initiative to develop the new Perfect Dark. A safe guess is that the people losing their jobs are related to Marvel’s Avengers, which is shutting down at the end of the month. Either way, we hope other studios pick up these talented developers soon.
