A proposal for a decree by the Engagés establishing the audit of the accounts of the Walloon Parliament by the Court of Auditors was unanimously approved on Monday by a committee of the regional parliament.
Until now, these accounts were controlled by the members of parliament themselves, some of them being appointed auditors. But the scandals that have shaken the assembly in recent months “have shown the obvious limits of this system“, underlined the leader of the Ecolo group in the regional parliament, Stéphane Hazée.
“This proposal for a decree is an extension of the political decisions that were already taken last November and which led, among other things, to the establishment of the accounting committee“, added, for the PS, Mourad Sahli.
