A sinkhole has formed on the shoulder of the E17 in the direction of Kortrijk, following the damage of a sewer system, reports The newspapaer this Friday.

Located near the THV company, it is already the second sinkhole spotted in a week in the region. The damage is believed to be due to an old sewage system running under the ramp.

The highway is currently reduced to two lanes and is limited to 70 km/h. Work began on Friday. The Roads and Traffic Agency estimates that it will take until Friday August 25 to repair the road.

No incidents due to the sinkhole have been reported.
