Very striking images in Bruges. An altercation took place between a cyclist and a motorist on the road. The cyclist clinging to the car was dragged for more than a kilometer before falling.
The video posted on social media begins with the altercation. When the light turns green, the motorist tries to move away, but the cyclist refuses to let him pass and clings to the vehicle. Despite this, the driver continues on his way.
“What we see in these images is very dangerous. We are not going to pass judgment on the rest, but it is true that it is spectacular. It is not every day that someone hangs on to a car, which by the way is very dangerous. We can be happy that the consequences are not more serious”, says Lien Depoorter, the Bruges police spokeswoman.
The cyclist lets go and falls to the side of the road. Time-lapse footage shows the ride during which he clung to the car. A one kilometer route. He escapes unscathed, but his safety shoes are destroyed.
Questioned by our colleagues from VTM, the cyclist said he wanted to challenge the driver when he was about to ride on the cycle path.
“Shortly after the incident, the driver and the cyclist were interviewed by the police. Now we will be able to find out a little more about this fight. We have the images and the statements.
