(PLO) – Disgraced Manchester United captain Harry Maguire has sent a clear message to head coach Erik Ten Hag after the FA Cup win over Reading.
Manchester United just defeated Reading 3-1 at Old Trafford this morning (January 29) to advance to the fifth round of the FA Cup after the goals of Brazilian duo Casemiro (2 goals) and Fred.

(PLO)- Striker Marcus Rashford was furious after VAR denied his Manchester United goal in a 3-1 win over Reading at Old Trafford in the fourth round of the FA Cup.
Manchester United captain Harry Maguire has been given a rare starting spot by coach Erik Ten Hag this season. And after helping MU continue in the FA Cup, Harry Maguire sent a message to the Dutch teacher.

After a goalless first half, Casemiro scored a quick brace to help MU fully control the situation. Reading’s Andy Carroll was sent off, before Fred scored United’s third. At the end of the match, Amadou Mbengue headed home a consolation goal for Reading away.
Harry Maguire has only started his third match since the 2022 World Cup. The fact that Maguire is ill and is no longer the mainstay of MU under Ten Hag has limited his playing time. However, after the victory at Old Trafford, Harry Maguire made it clear that he understood what Ten Hag expected of him and set his sights on regaining the main kick in the heart of the MU defence.

“I’ve been taking care of myself, it’s been two and a half weeks since I last started, so I’ve been training hard,” Harry Maguire told ITV after the game. The players did a great job. I have an opportunity that I need to take and make sure we win.
It’s great to be on the pitch helping my teammates and I’m ready when the opportunity arises. Of course, I’m a player, 29 years old and I haven’t really been in this situation in my career. So it’s a position I don’t want to get used to, but it’s part of football.”
Harry Maguire started the season in a regular position at the heart of United’s defence, but the team’s first two losses forced Ten Hag to make landmark changes.

Since Harry Maguire was pushed to the bench by Ten Hag and chose the pair of Raphael Varane and Lisandro Martinez, MU played completely transformed with the certainty, composure and blood of the defense.
Harry Maguire went on to send a message to Ten Hag adding: “I’m working hard every day, I’m pushing, I’m training well and when the opportunity comes, I need to take it. We know at this club we need competition for positions, we have some of the top central defenders at the club. So I think we’re all fine between now and the end of the season.”
Before the match between MU and Reading in the FA Cup, coach Erik Ten Hag explained his decision to bring Maguire on. The £80m centre-back pairs up with Victor Lindelof, while Varane and Martinez are both rested.

Manchester United manager Erik Ten Hag said: “I said yesterday (in the pre-match press conference) Harry Maguire was ill when he returned from the World Cup. If not, he could have played a few games. You need to get out on the field to get the rhythm back.
Harry Maguire has played some games, but I think this is a good game for him to come back to, especially when you see the height of the opponent. Maguire had some chances. But every player has to know how to seize his opportunity.
Harry Maguire is training very hard, has a very outstanding training process. And that’s what I want to see from him. Harry Maguire is a leader and captain of Manchester United and I have a lot of expectations from him.”
