The doctor said whether eyewitnesses could have helped the motorcyclist who died yesterday in Riga?

He made his findings public in response to a question about whether the people who witnessed the incident and rushed to help the motorcycle driver acted according to the situation.

On the evening of Thursday, April 11, the driver of the motorcycle died as a result of a collision between a motorcycle and a car on the Stone Bridge in Riga. The moment of the accident was captured on video, which quickly spread on social networks, causing a public outcry.

“Yesterday many people asked me what is best to do and how best to help the victim. The short answer is that the injury was incompatible with life, and virtually no help could be provided in this situation. However, there are nuances that I will try to explain,” Furmanis said in his microblog “X”.

Overall, the people at the scene did the right thing, he said. “They stopped the car in a safe place, blocked traffic, examined the victim, and called for help. Only the scooter driver shrugged. Should I take off my helmet or not? – writes Furmanis.

Furmanis referred to first aid recommendations. They state that the helmet must be removed if:

1. The victim is unconscious;

2. Bleeding from under the helmet.

First aid should be provided after removing the helmet. Including to stop bleeding, resuscitation, bringing the body into a stable position lying on its side.

“In the situation shown in the video, the helmet should be removed. But did it change anything? Most likely no! Condolences to loved ones…” the doctor indicated.

How found out the portal “tv3.lv”, a man born in 2001 who died at the scene. The man did not have the necessary category A license to drive this motorcycle.

“This man had a category B license, not an A, which means he is not allowed to drive this motorcycle. In this case, the license was not suitable for driving the selected vehicle. A criminal trial has been launched regarding this incident,” the police said.
