NEW YORK – A 4-year-old boy has died after suffering an excruciating fall from the window of a Brooklyn apartment building, police said.
The fatal fall occurred around 3 p.m. in East Flatbush on New York Avenue near Farragut Road, according to police officials.
It was not clear how the boy fell, but police said he climbed out of a window from a “high place.”
A neighbor who saw the boy after he fell said people were desperately trying to help.
“So when I went to his window, we looked out the window and we saw a little boy. He was laying on the floor. So I thought, what happened? So, you saw like 10 different people. They were trying to revive him. It was like if a bunch of strangers tried to get him where he needed to be,” neighbor Nashawna Harley told our sister station NBC New York.
Investigators are trying to find out how the child fell and if there were any safety bars on the windows.
