Tropical wave will begin to leave showers from tonight

A tropical wave will begin to leave downpours over the Puerto Rico region starting tonight, reported the National Meteorological Service in San Juan (SNM).

According to the agency, the downpours are forecast to continue until Monday morning, however, dust from the Sahara desert would arrive later in the afternoon.

“Tropical wave will bring showers and thunderstorms from Sunday night to early Monday morning, with the greatest impact on E-PR and USVI. Saharan dust and a drier air mass will result in fair weather conditions and hazy skies on Monday,” the SNM said.

The downpours would be concentrated in the east of the island and thunderstorms could be recorded in the west.

Meteorology warned that the heat index could reach 100 degrees.
