A 10-day-old baby was finally rescued from the rubble of the Turkish earthquake. The newborn baby and mother spent 90 hours in the rubble. Baby Yagis Ulas was rescued from the rubble of a collapsed building in Turkey’s Hatay province on Friday, February 10, following desperate efforts by rescue workers.

After first aid, the baby was shifted to a nearby hospital. The baby’s mother was also saved. The woman spent 90 hours in the rubble of the building and was in a state of utter exhaustion. They have also been shifted to a nearby hospital. On Friday, February 10, rescue workers managed to save 9 babies.

More than 22,000 people have already died in Monday’s earthquake in Turkey and Syria. As a result, hundreds of thousands of homeless people are suffering from cold and hunger. Also, heavy snowfall and frequent rains are adversely affecting the rescue operation which continues for the fourth day.
An earthquake in northwestern Turkey in 1999 killed 17,000 people. The death toll in this earthquake is much higher than that. A preliminary report from Turkey’s Bogazici University said regarding 40 percent of buildings in Kahramanmaras, the epicenter of the quake, had been damaged.
Many countries are reaching out with a helping hand for rescue operations in the earthquake affected area. WHO Director-General Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus has arrived in Syria to ensure proper health care for earthquake victims.
