Dubai: The UAE today celebrated the 47th anniversary of the unification of the armed forces. It marks the anniversary of bringing the armed forces of different emirates under a single command.
On May 6, 1976, UAE President Sheikh Zayed bin Sultan Al Nahyan unified the armed forces under one central command and flag. Armed Forces Unification Day is observed every year to commemorate this. As part of the day celebration, special ceremonies were organized to highlight the successful military missions and operations of the country. UAE President Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed along with military chiefs participated in the day celebration at Abu Muraikha where the agreement of military unification was signed.
UAE Vice President and Prime Minister Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum said that military integration was as important as national integration. Rulers of various emirates extended greetings on the Day of Unification of Forces.
