On the morning of this Wednesday – March 29, in Riga, in the Brasa microdistrict, traffic was hindered for several hours – a truck overturned at the intersection of Duntes and Skanstes streets, blocking several traffic lanes.
Employees of the State Fire and Rescue Service (SFSS, VUGD) received a call at 10.39.
Fortunately, no one was hurt in this accident. Although the trailer of the car fell right on the sidewalk, where pedestrians could be. But luckily, there were no casualties.
The driver was able to leave the cab of the car on his own.
According to the preliminary information available to the State Police, the car overturned due to skewed cargo.
Most likely, the truck driver, turning left from Skanstes Street to Duntes Street, did not manage to choose the right speed. The load in the trailer overturned – the accident was inevitable, according to the program “Degpunktā”.
Andrejs Vlasovs, commander of the 3rd division of the Riga State Border Service, says that there was a small fuel leak of about 30 liters, an absorbent was used and the battery terminals were disconnected.
A tow truck had to be called to the scene to put the heavy vehicle on wheels.
The truck was carrying 25 tons of wooden pallets.
