If the CPI experiences an increase of at least 2%, the value of the minimum wage automatically also rises in the same proportions. This applies “from the first day of the month following the publication of the index leading to this increase”, as can be seen in article L3231-5 of the Labor Code.

The amounts of the minimum interprofessional growth wage in Europe
It is not only in France that the minimum wage has been introduced. Indeed, currently, 22 member countries of the European Union also set the minimum amount an employee should earn per hour.
On the other hand, in countries such as Denmark, Austria, Italy, Sweden or even Finland, there is no minimum wage. Which means that employees set the amount of salary as they want.

In the case of Greece, the minimum wage amounts to 831.83 euros while in Poland, it is 745.60 euros. For its part, Luxembourg offers the highest minimum wage amount in the European Union. Indeed, the Luxembourg Smic is at 2,387.40 euros for the first half of 2023.
In addition, the amount of the Smic in most EU member countries does not exceed 1000 euros. Only eight countries have a minimum wage higher than this amount. This is particularly the case of France, of course, but also Germany, Benelux, Spain, Slovenia and even Ireland.
According to Eurostat data, minimum wages in the European Union vary between 398.81 euros (Bulgaria) and 2,387.40 euros (Luxembourg).
