This weekend, the town of Bastogne commemorates the 79th anniversary of the Battle of the Bulge. As a reminder, this is one of the last major German offensives against the Allied troops who emerged victorious during the Second World War. This victory will cost the lives of more than 20,000 Americans and as many victims in the German ranks.

On the occasion of this anniversary, six American veterans traveled from the United States to participate in the procession which will take place this afternoon on General McAuliffe Square. The name of this place refers to the General who led the American troops during the battle. Between 15,000 and 20,000 people are expected this weekend in Bastogne. They will be able to participate in the throwing of nuts from the balcony of the town hall which is the tradition of commemorating the Battle of the Ardennes!
