The Voyager 2 space probe has been traveling through space undeterred for almost 46 years. Since leaving Earth on August 20, 1977, it has traveled around 20 billion kilometers. Only its sister probe Voyager 1 (23.9 billion kilometers) has come further, together the two probes of the US space agency Nasa are the longest-lived and most distant objects of human origin. Now the contact to the pioneer Voyager 2 in interstellar space has been broken off.
