Guyanese celebrated Palm Sunday (+ photos)

The parish priest Manuel Díaz invites the community to rescue during this Holy Week the religious values ”that lead us to meet Jesus.”

As part of the Catholic tradition at the beginning of Holy Week, this Palm Sunday the Guyanese celebrated the blessing of the palms.

Manuel Díaz, parish priest of Nuestra Señora de Fátima, points out that at 8:00 am they began with the blessing of branches in front of the Hotel Rasil and later they went in procession to the church. The same tour was done at 10 in the morning.

The Eucharist was attended by a large influx of parishioners. Approximately 550 people attended the first mass this Sunday, and around 750 were at the second meeting with a homily focused “on the love of God.”

For this major week, Father Manuel Díaz extends to the Guyanese community the invitation to rescue the religious values ”that lead us to the encounter with Jesus”, and to attend the temples, regardless of the religion they profess.

Especially for those facing adversity, remember that “Jesus takes those realities into himself and transforms them into new life.”
