IU and Kim Go-eun donated 150 million won and 150 million won, respectively, to support emergency relief for forest fire victims in Uljin and Samcheok

Singer and actress IU donated 100 million won to help victims of forest fires in Uljin and Samcheok. Actress Kim Go-eun also donated 50 million won to support emergency relief for forest fire victims.

On the 5th, Hope Bridge, the National Disaster Relief Association, said, “IU donated 100 million won to support temporary prefabricated housing for victims who lost their livelihoods due to the large-scale wildfire that started in Uljin, Gyeongbuk and spread to Samcheok, Gangwon.”

After hearing the news of the damage from the wildfire, IU was reported to have quickly and meticulously identified what kind of help the victims needed the most, and delivered the donation. Accordingly, the donation will be used to support temporary prefabricated housing for those whose houses have been burned down in the wildfire.

On the same day, Kim Go-eun also announced the donation through Hope Bridge and said, “I am very concerned regarding those who have lost their livelihoods due to wildfires. I hope it will be delivered.”

Above all, in addition to this donation, the two have been consistently making donations for social disasters such as COVID-19 and low-income families. IU is known as a representative donation angel in the entertainment industry with a cumulative donation of more than 4 billion won. .

Meanwhile, on the morning of the 4th, a forest fire broke out in a hill in Ducheon-ri, Buk-myeon, Uljin-gun, Gyeongsangbuk-do. The Korea Forest Service mobilized manpower and firefighting power to extinguish the fire, but the wildfire spread to Samcheok, Gangwon, with strong winds. On the 5th, as the direction of the wind changed, the flames moved south once more to Uljin-eup and Jukbyeon-myeon, which is still experiencing difficulties in extinguishing.

The scale of wildfire damage continues to snowball. The area affected by the forest fire has increased significantly to 10,775 hectares, including 10,145 hectares in Uljin and 630 hectares in Samcheok, which is equivalent to 15,091 soccer fields (0.714 hectares). In addition, 206 buildings, including 153 houses and 34 warehouses, were burnt down, and residents were ordered to evacuate.
