On July 10, the search for the two-year-old was expanded.
Several mountain specialists, search dogs and helicopters are currently looking for the child.
Many villagers are also involved in the search.
The boy can walk very well for his age, says the mayor. “Perhaps he could already cover a large distance.” Voice messages from his mother are now supposed to bring him out of hiding.
Émile (2) has been missing since Saturday.
Despite an extensive search, the two-year-old boy cannot be found.
Now voice messages from his mother should help with the search.
Since Saturday in the French department of Alpes-de-Haute-Provence after the two-year-old boy Émile sought. 60 gendarmes, 24 firefighters and 200 volunteers are involved in the search, as “Franceinfo” reports. There are also several mountain specialists, search dogs, helicopters and thermal drones. Vernet’s houses were also searched in consultation with the residents.
So far, however, the great effort has not been rewarded. There is no trace of Émile. Now the authorities resort to unconventional methods: From a helicopter, they play voice messages from Émile’s mother. This should lure the two-year-old boy out of his hiding place.

François Balique, Mayor of Vernet, says Émile can walk very well for his age. “Perhaps he could already cover a large distance.” The mayor assumes that the boy got lost in the mountainous area or hid somewhere. He considers a kidnapping or other crime in the small village to be rather unlikely.
The public prosecutor’s office has already launched an appeal for witnesses, with the photo and description of the child being circulated in all media. Émile has brown eyes, blond hair, is 90 cm tall and wears a yellow top, white shorts with a green pattern and hiking boots.
