Last week, Married at first sight ended in unbearable suspense: in the teaser for the episode of this Monday, May 1, 2023, we discovered that Bülent, was going to interrupt the marriage of his daughter Estelle, at the time of the exchange greeting. What was he going to say? Was he going to oppose the marriage, he who has seen the concept of the show with a bad eye from the start? We already knew he was capable of anything. In Estelle’s portrait, viewers got to know Mervé, her sister. She did not hesitate to tell that her father had not spoken to her for several years, after being upset on her wedding day. If we don’t know more details about the estrangement, we know that the father of Turkish origin is the tough type.
When she told him to participate in Married at first sight, Estelle was therefore not really confident. With good reason, since Bülent, afraid that his daughter would fall on a “bandit” (sic) imposed his conditions on the production: he thus asked to meet the man selected for her by the experts, Maximilien, before his daughter. A request that the production declined, judging that it interfered too much with the initial concept of the show. Instead, Bülent was offered to meet Maximilien’s father, an accommodating man, who managed to put him at ease.

But height of history; on learning that he was a former soldier, Bülent suddenly feared that the family was too rigid for his daughter. But while the “yes” between them seemed obvious, Bülent could not help but play the killjoy. When he learned that his future son-in-law was a sports coach, he could not hide his disappointment: “that’s not a job”, he slipped to his other daughter Mervé, visibly very embarrassed.
Worse, the man decided to intervene when the mayor asked if anyone wanted to speak. Faced with the dumbfounded assembly, he took his daughter’s suitor aside. “Estelle, it’s all for my life, it’s my first love. I never want any lack of respect between you. If there is a problem, I would like you to contact me. You must not break his heart…”, he said in his broken French. A stroke of pressure that was not really to Maximilian’s taste. “It blocked me a bit. I wondered what impact he has on his daughter’s decisions in his life […] I hate being told what to do, especially in my relationships,” he said in voice-over. But despite this unpleasant surprise, the young man decided to reassure Bülent and marry his daughter.
A little later, while he was at the table next to Maximilien’s parents, Bülent again cooled the mood. Faced with the obvious complicity of the newlyweds, he wanted to express what he believes will “pose a problem” between them. In his eyes, Maximilien will have no choice but to move to Alès if he wishes to continue the relationship with Estelle (the reverse would therefore be unthinkable for Bülent). But being an only son, his departure risks, according to the man, being complicated. A fear deemed premature and inappropriate by Maximilien’s mother, who reacted to the camera: “It’s none of our business. It’s their project, we don’t have to interfere in their project, it’s up to them to decide”.
