Doha: Qatar National Bank has launched a new facial biometric payment system to speed up payment processes by recognizing the customer’s face without using a bank card or mobile phone. The new system aims to make payments easier for merchants in the country.
It is a technology that facilitates the payment process by recognizing the customer’s face without a bank card or mobile phone. Facial Biometric system is beneficial for faster, convenient and secure payment. A one-time sign-up for the new service requires customers to create a profile by taking a selfie with their smartphone before entering their phone number and card details.
Once the sign-up is completed, the card number will be securely linked to the facial biometric template. 2 minutes maximum is enough for this. Then the payment can be made in a short time. There is a facility to sign-up to the new system at the bank branches itself. Qatar National Bank is one of the largest financial institutions in the Middle East and Africa (MENA).
