Abu Dhabi – Mubasher: The UAE ranked 16th regionally on the Government Readiness Index for Artificial Intelligence 2020 of the Oxford Insights Foundation.
A recent report prepared by the “Interregional Center for Strategic Analyzes” revealed that investment in artificial intelligence in the Middle East region amounted to about $320 billion, with the increasing interest of governments and various companies in the need to shift towards a knowledge economy.
It is expected that the annual growth in the contribution of artificial intelligence will range between 20 percent and 34 percent annually in the region, especially with remarkable growth in the UAE, followed by Saudi Arabia, given their relative investments in the field compared to the rest of the countries in the region.
The two countries rank among the top 50 countries in the world on the Global Innovation Index in terms of innovation capacity and its outputs, and the Middle East is expected to achieve 2 percent of the total global benefits of artificial intelligence in 2030.
The most important gains are expected to accrue to Saudi Arabia. Artificial intelligence is expected to contribute more than $135.2 billion in 2030 (12.4 percent of GDP).
The UAE ranked first in the Arab world and 29th globally in the competitive industrial performance index issued by the United Nations Industrial Development Organization (UNIDO) 2022.
