A statement by the Moroccan High Commission for Planning attributed the increase in the inflation rate in Morocco during the month; The food price index increased by 1.3 percent, and the non-food price index increased by 0.5 percent.

The food index rose, affected by an increase in the prices of vegetables by 3.5 percent, oils and spices by 2.5 percent, meat, milk, cheese, and eggs by 2 percent, and coffee, tea, cocoa, mineral water, refreshing drinks, and fruit and vegetable juices by 0.4 percent.

On the other hand, the prices of fish and seafood decreased by 0.8 percent.

Regarding non-food items, they were affected by the increase in fuel prices by 6 percent.

On an annual basis, the inflation rate in Moroccan consumer prices rose by 4.9 percent, and the commission attributed this to the rise in food prices by 9.9 percent, and non-food prices by 1.3 percent.

The core inflation index, which excludes items with fixed prices and items with high volatility, declined during September by 0.5 percent, on a monthly basis, and rose by 4.6 percent, on an annual basis.
