The Ukrainian Foreign Ministry stated that the Ukrainians killed in Germany were servicemen of the Ukrainian Armed Forces

Bavarian police reported that two Ukrainian citizens were found stabbed to death in a shopping center in Murnau am Staffelsee on Saturday.

A 36-year-old man died on the spot from his serious injuries; the second victim, 23 years old, died in the evening at a nearby hospital. The police report said those killed lived in the Garmisch-Partenkirchen area.

A 57-year-old Russian citizen, whose name has not been released, was arrested on suspicion of double murder.

According to media reports, authorities have not yet established the motive for the murder, and it is also unknown whether those killed knew the suspect.

The Ukrainian Foreign Ministry published a message on its website saying that “according to preliminary data, the deceased citizens were military personnel who were undergoing medical rehabilitation in Germany.”

“Ukrainian consuls are clarifying information regarding the units in which the deceased served and are establishing contact with their loved ones,” writes the Ukrainian Foreign Ministry.

The Minister of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine Dmitry Kuleba instructed to keep this case under special control, the Foreign Ministry also reports.
