This Friday, the lifeless body of Athena Strand, a 7-year-old American girl, was found in Wise County, North Texas. The girl had been missing since Wednesday. Since then, a whole country was in fear that something serious had happened to him.
And the fears were confirmed. Quickly, the authorities understood that the girl had been kidnapped not far from her home. And the first elements of the investigation suggest that she was kidnapped and then killed, within the hour, by a 31-year-old man.
The suspect, Tanner Lynn Horner, was indeed arrested on Saturday and is being prosecuted for murder. A driver for the FedEx company, he had left a package at Athena’s house just before the girl’s disappearance.
In a moving Facebook post, Athena’s mother spoke of a “sick and cruel monster” who took her daughter “for no reason”. “I don’t know how to describe the pain and the anger that is in me”
“Athena was innocent, beautiful, smart, kind, and she was the happiest, brightest person there is. I don’t want people to remember that she was the little girl killed by a monster, ”she continues.
Since then, it is the shock in the United States and the tributes are numerous.
An autopsy is to take place and authorities do not yet know what the suspect’s motive was.
For its part, the FedEx company distanced itself from the driver and said it was “shocked” by this news, while offering its condolences to Athena’s family.
