Belgian Man Wanted for Manslaughter and Theft Arrested in Germany After 25 Years

Our compatriot was wanted for manslaughter committed in… 1998. “An outstanding arrest warrant for theft was revealed thanks to the man’s Belgian identity documents,” explains the German police. Theft for which he was fined 750 euros in 2023.

During the check, officers found that his fingerprints matched those of a Lebanese man who had been wanted for 25 years. He must serve a six-year prison sentence. “He probably moved to Belgium following his conviction and lived under a pseudonym,” the police assume.

In Germany, the statute of limitations does not exist in cases of manslaughter or murder.
