Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Strategy and Finance Choo Kyung-ho on the 15th emphasized that it is the top priority of the new government’s economic team to reduce the burden of livelihoods caused by rising prices of flour and diesel.

Deputy Prime Minister Choo held a meeting of economic ministers at the government complex in Seoul on the same day and said, “We plan to come up with measures to stabilize people’s livelihood as soon as possible through discussions with related ministries.”

“The Korean economy is in a very serious and urgent situation, with internal and external risk factors such as the recent prolonged Ukraine crisis, the shift to tightening monetary policies in major countries, and increased inflationary pressures,” Choo said.

He said, “In particular, alleviating the burden of people’s livelihood, who is currently experiencing great difficulties, is the top priority of the new government’s economic team,” he said. We all need to work together,” he said.

Deputy Prime Minister Choo said, “The recent rise in prices is mainly due to external conditions, so we need to focus on external risk management.”

Deputy Prime Minister Chu also said, “I will actively cooperate with the National Assembly deliberation so that the second supplementary budget bill, which is directly related to the livelihood of people, such as support for damage to small businesses, can be confirmed at the National Assembly in May.” He urged the relevant ministries.

The meeting was held for a meeting with the new economic ministers and to discuss issues of livelihood.
